First in a series of three Deluxe releases based around the ‘live’ performances of Klaus Schulze and Lisa Gerrard from their European tour of 2009!
1983 was the time of the start of change behind the Iron Curtain, and in Poland the time of Solidarnosc.
Klaus Schulze was one of the few musicians allowed to go on tour in Poland. As a purely instrumental artist the authorities believed him to be quite safe, but Klaus doesn't miss a chance to show his solidarity with the protesting population, and the resulting album: ‘Dziekuje Poland Live-83’ became a Schulze classic!
After the political changes many of the former attendees of his concerts became members of the Polish government, and this government then invited Klaus back to play at the 70th Anniversary of the Soviet Assault on Poland.
So, on September 17th 2009 in the courtyard of the royal palace in Warsaw, together with Lisa Gerrard (acclaimed exceptional artist and singer of DEAD CAN DANCE) Klaus Schulze delivered an intense performance in front of an enthralled audience.
The concert in Warsaw is the focus of: ‘Big in Europe-Vol.1’, the first of overall 3 new releases, which will include the whole tour in Europe 2009, with performances in Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris – full track details of these are TBA.
Besides a full-length documentary, the 2nd DVD in this set also contains an electronic appetizer for the forthcoming ‘Big In Europe’ -Volumes 2 and 3.
‘Big In Europe-Vol.1’ is released on or before 29th November 2013.
